IAAgent's new ticket: Push ERC-8004, what are you holding on to

This open-source intelligence known as OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot, later renamed MoltBot) has spread rapidly to the global technology community and encryption circles over the past time, demonstrating the new trend that AI Agent is accelerating to form: through open-source models, automated tools and chain infrastructure, individuals have for the first time had the opportunity to have a sustainable productivity unit that does not depend on large platforms。

But it is behind this optimistic expectation that a more fundamental and more difficult question is emerging: how can we trust AI Agent when he begins to really work together and to "employ" each other

It is against this background that on January 30, Davide Cripis, head of the AI Foundation, said that ERC-8004 is on line with the host network and that the team will deploy a single case to all mainstream L2 in the coming weeks。

This seemingly low-key technological advance may have added a long-lost infrastructure puzzle to the AI Agent economy。

I. WHAT IS ERC-804

If you still have an impression of the ETA team, it's not hard to understand the inevitability of ERC-804。

As mentioned earlier, on September 15, 2025, the Taifung Foundation established the Artificial Intelligence Team "dAI", whose core task is to define the criteria, incentives, and governance structures of the AI model on the block chain, including its credibility, that is, how to make the behaviour of AI verifiable, traceable, collaborative in a decentralised environment。

IT IS IN THIS CONTEXT THAT ERC-8004 HAS BEEN PROMOTED AS ONE OF THE CORE STANDARDS。

Unlike payment-type agreements such as x402, ERC-804 does not directly solve the "how the money goes" problem, but tries to answer a more fundamental question:How can AI Agent be identified, trusted and involved in economic collaboration without endorsement of the platform

This is why the promotion of ERC-8004 has taken on extraordinary importance: led by the ITAFD dAI team, the United Google, Coinbase and MetaMask have been developed with almost three key portals: AI, trading and wallets, a specification that in itself releases a clear signal that it is not an application layer, but a long-term infrastructure bet。

It's not a complex algorithm, but rather a purposeIT'S NOT LIKE I'M GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET AN I.A. INTO A CHAIN WITH A PROVEN IDENTITY, REPUTATION AND ABILITYIn short, it was designed to be very restrained and to do only three things:

• Registration form:Based on the ERC-721 standard, every AI Agent is "NFT-modified". This means that AI Agent is no longer a line code in the wallet, but a digital entity with a unique ID, transferable and verifiable number, which means that AI Agent is no longer just an example in a system for the first time, but can be consulted, quoted and integrated into other protocols like the wallet address
• Register of reputations:It can be understood as the "public comment" of the AI community, which allows feedback from users or others who actually interact with Agent. More importantly, these evaluations can be linked to chain-based payments or hosting practices, ensuring that reputation is not an empty narrative, but a historical record based on real economic behaviour. In an environment where there is no centralized decision, the design, which pays for evaluation authority, attempts to migrate the most basic credit logic of the real world to the AI collaborative network
• Validate registration form:For high-value or high-risk missions, the historical reputation itself is not sufficient. The ERC-8004 thus reserved a third-party validation interface allowing endorsement of the Agent ' s capacity or implementation process through a credible implementation environment, zero proof of knowledge, which, although not yet fully open, has itself demonstrated the intent of the standard to be oriented towards a long-term complex collaborative landscape

It is worth noting that, despite being born in the ETA ecology, the ERC-8004 goal was not exclusively designed for use in the Pacific from the outset, but rather designed as a common standard for achieving AIAgent discovery and trust through block chains。

The standard is now being used or tested on several mainstream EVM networks, including Arbitrum, Base, Monad, etc., and clearly planned for some non-EVM ecological expansion, which means that ERC-8004 is not trying to address the local needs of a particular chain, but rather the trust issues that prevail across platforms and organizations。

II. ERC-8004 WHAT CAN BE SOLVED

IF YOU LOOK BACK AT THE EVOLUTION PATH OF AI FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, YOU FIND A VERY CLEAR WATERSHED。

At the stage of AI's existence, still largely as a “tool”, all problems can be attributed to model capabilities, calculus costs and product experiences; but when in 2025 AI Agent was able to independently take over, mobilize resources, perform operations and be responsible for results, it suddenly became apparent that, in this seemingly logical evolution, a long-neglected problem was amplified indefinitely。

How can we trust each other

To know that individual Agent is unable to perform all of its tasks, it must be more efficient, like human society, through division of labour, outsourcing, and the reuse of others' capabilities, which means that under this structure AI must proactively call on other AI to form a highly automated collaborative network。

Of course, in today's Web2 or platform-based AI application, the problem does not exist, after all, because you trust an AI, essentially the platform, company, and brand behind it, and the responsibility can be traced back to a central subject in case of error. But in an open, unlicensed, decentrized world, this logic no longer works:An AI Agent, who may come from individuals, DAOs, research institutions, even completely anonymous deployers, may be doing well today, but suddenly doing evil tomorrow, may claim some kind of capability, but you cannot verify its true origin。

This means that when AI Agent begins to become truly involved in economic activity, especially when it involves high-risk behaviour such as assets, transactions, settlements, authorizations, etc., "trust" will become a scarcer resource than "capacity," and large-scale collaboration between AI Agent cannot be established without a searchable, verifiable and accountable infrastructure。

IT'S ALSO IN THIS CONTEXT THAT THE ERC-8004 WAS RAISED, NOT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF WHAT AI CAN DO, BUT TO POINT TO A DEEPER PROPOSITION: IN A WORLD WHERE THERE IS NO CENTRAL GUARANTOR, HOW AI IS TREATED AS A "CREDIBLE SUBJECT". SO THE DESIGN IDEA IS THAT THE ERC-804 IS NOT A COMPLEX TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH, AND IT IS EVEN VERY SIMPLE:

As noted above, within the framework of the ERC-8004, each AIAgent is no longer a vague example of a program, but rather has an identifiable and quoted chain identity. This identity is not intended for trading or speculation, but rather as a long-standing anchor that binds declarations of capacity, historical behaviour and future responsibility。

More importantly, such an identity is not dependent on a platform or application, but exists in an open public ledger, which means that any person, any agreement, any Agent can search and verify it under the same standard。

ABOVE IDENTITY, ERC-8004 INTRODUCES A CHAIN OF REPUTATIONS, WHICH IS PARTICULARLY CRITICAL, AS IT TRIES TO SOLVE A PROBLEM THAT HAS LONG PLAGUED THE DECENTRIZED SYSTEM, NAMELYHow to build a credible historical record without a Platform decision。By tying evaluation to real mission, real payment or hosting, ERC-804 wants to qualify "used" This common sense of the real world is introduced into the AI Agent economic system. The reputation is no longer a marketing narrative but a long-term accumulation of behaviour。

WHILE IDENTITY AND REPUTATION WERE STILL INSUFFICIENT TO COVER HIGH-VALUE SCENARIOS, ERC-8004 FURTHER RESERVED INTERFACES FOR VALIDATION. THIS IS NOT TO PRESCRIBE A PARTICULAR TECHNOLOGY PATH, BUT TO ALLOW DIFFERENT FORMS OF THIRD-PARTY CERTIFICATION MECHANISMS TO INTERVENE, SUCH AS A CREDIBLE ENFORCEMENT ENVIRONMENT, PLEDGE GUARANTEES AND EVEN ZERO-KNOWLEDGE CERTIFICATION。

Taken together, the ERC-8004 is not a single-point function criterion, but rather a minimally viable set of “social structures” for AIAgent, leading AI to start working together, competing and assuming responsibility as members of society, building the most basic order。

III. Why is it the Taifeng

Then there will be a new problem: in the highly automated and frequently called future of AI Agent, why would the standard choose the Taifung instead of the faster, cheaper block chains designed specifically for AI or high frequency interaction

The answer may not be in the technical parameters themselves, but rather in a hidden asset that has accumulated over time in the Inn, namely, a credible neutrality as a global settlement layer。

It is important to emphasize that in AI Agent ' s collaborative network, what is really expensive is not the cost of communication, but the cost of error. Ultimately, once AI Agent is allowed to operate assets directly, carry out transactions or act on behalf of others, any failure or corruption may result in irreversible losses。

In such an environment, participants are undoubtedly concerned not with how many requests can be processed every second, but with the stability of the rules, the non-alterability of records, the retroactivity of responsibilities, and the long-term advantage of the utensils in these dimensions。

After all, Etheum is not part of a company or alliance, and its safety model, auditing culture and eco-maturity have been repeatedly tested in DeFi, NFT, and institutional applications, so the ERC-8004 proposal is an attempt to extend these established advantages to AI Agent, an entirely new subject type。

The blogger adds:THE ETHER'S BATTLE HERE IS A MORE SUBTLE NEW LABEL: THE BOTTOM LEVEL OF SETTLEMENT WHERE AI COLLABORATES— In this scenario, AI Agent in different platforms, chains and organizations can operate in their respective environments, but eventually return to a mutually agreed neutral layer when they need confidence-building, hosting value, settlement results。

It can be said that this new role is very much in line with the emerging position of the ETA in the global financial system: It does not seek to be the fastest executive level, nor does it attempt to capture all applications, but rather to occupy a more fundamental position over timeThis is a credible settlement and order layer。

Of course, the ERC-8004 does not immediately trigger an explosive application, and it solves a problem that has not yet arrived. But on a longer time scale, when AI Agent evolves from a simple "functional module" to an "economic subject" capable of taking orders, collaborating and settling, when the wallet no longer serves only human beings, but begins to carry AI’s jurisdictional boundaries, attribution and risk isolation, the basic order of identity, reputation and certification is likely to be a prerequisite for the real size of the AI economy。

IN THIS SENSE, THE ERC-8004 IS NOT AN ATTEMPT AT SHORT TERM NARRATIVES, BUT A CLEAR BET ON ITS OWN FUTURE: IN AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM IN WHICH HUMANS AND AI PARTICIPATEOrder and settlement still require a credible, long-term neutral base。

Although today, at this time, when the sound of the bear is high and the mood is low, you may not have a cold or even be patient enough about the technology of the Taifeng。

It is undeniable, however, that when new production relationships are taking shape, ETA is trying to capture a new direction that is not yet fully visible but that is sufficient to reshape the future。
